NEED
The client builds motor drives for oil well beam pumps. In deep
wells with slow recovery rates, as the oil was pumped off and the oil level
dropped, they discovered that the motor drive was overloaded due to the
increased distance that the oil had to be lifted.
This often resulted in damage to the motor windings. The
resulting repair cost was significant.
SOLUTION
Mitsi developed a micro-processor based control device that
could switch the winding configuration of the motor to increase the motor torque
output as the load increased. This eliminated the damage to the motor drive and
improved the motor life.
In addition to the design and development, the client also
selected Mitsi to manufacture the controller.
RESULTS
To date, Mitsi has assembled, tested and shipped six hundred
controllers.
The performance of the controller in the field has been
excellent. The client recently placed a large order for their motor drives,
including the controller, with a major foreign oil company
