A leading manufacturer of shirts and slacks required a
general purpose industrial controller for a variety of applications. The
packaging, environmental conditions and electrically noisy environment mandated
the use of a large number of optically-isolated inputs and outputs in a minimum
of space.
The product needed to be simple to program and use by untrained operators.
Mitsi first developed a PC-based control program that communicates with the
controllers a built-in unshielded twisted-pair LAN .
The control program is used by the operator to select the types of cloth
being used, which then determines the top and bottom heat and pressure settings.
Software is then downloaded to the controller in individual belt loop and
webbing machines and to steam presses.
The product was developed under a joint R & D program, where we
cost-shared the development in exchange for manufacturing rights to the
hardware.
