The Bark Pick Up Unit is
the small box with the long microphone cable. A sensitive microphone is
located on the front of the case. The Bark Pick-Up Unit should be mounted
using the angle brackets, such that the microphone is above and faces the
direction from which the dogs usually bark. This mounting will maximize
the sensitivity of the Bark Pick-Up Unit and minimize any false
triggering. The Bark Pick-Up Unit is very rugged, but the microphone in it
may be damaged by direct exposure to precipitation or water spray. If your
kennels are outdoors and uncovered, mount the Bark Pick-Up Unit under
something (at least 12" by 12", plywood works fine) to protect
it from direct exposure to precipitation. Also be sure that the spray from
the Impulse Sprinkler Head does not hit the Bark Pick-Up Unit. Direct
exposure of the Bark Pick-Up Unit to precipitation or any water spray
voids the guarantee and warranty. Make very sure that neither the Bark
Pick-Up Unit nor the microphone cable is in reach of your dogs. They will
most certainly chew it up if they can reach it. Do not open the Bark
Pick-Up Unit. Opening the Bark Pick-Up Unit voids the guarantee and
warranty. Plug the Bark Pick Up Unit into one of the labeled jacks on
the Control Unit front panel. As you may have noticed, there are two jacks
on the Control Unit front panel for Bark Pick-Up Units. Either of these
may be used. A second Bark Pick-Up Unit may be purchased and used to
detect barking over a larger kennel area. The Impulse Sprinkler Heads can
spray a larger kennel area than can be covered by two Bark Pick-Up Units.
It may be necessary to experiment to find the most effective mounting
location for the Bark Pick-Up Unit.
